Another Blues Legend who played the Niagara Falls Blues Festival in 2010 has passed.

This legendary drummer passed a few days ago. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew. Toby Rotella, Blues Festival founder, was very upset at the news. He remembered all the good times they had getting into trouble together. The video is from last year’s Niagara Falls Blues Festival when Pinetop Perkins, Bob Margolin, and he were on the stage together.

Thank you to everyone who came to hear the music, and to those who worked behind the scenes to make this year’s festival a success!

History in the making!

The Blues community has lost a Legend.  Pinetop Perkins passed on March 21, 2011 at the age of 97.

We were honored to have him on our stage in 2010 along with other Blues Legends that took the stage together for the first time ever.

UPDATE!

We’re in the final planning stage with an official Blues Festival hotel. Should have details in a week or so.We are moving the classic car and bike cruise to Sunday. We will probably gather at the hotel and end at the Festival Grounds where we will have a brief ceremony in rembrance of the ten year anniversary of the September 11 attack on our country. After we pay respect to the victims and the brave first responders we will celebrate the freedoms our troops have fought for through the years by listening to some more Blues music. Some of our vendors will still be there for your eating and drinking pleasure

The line up is not confirmed yet, but we’re working on some really exciting acts!  Keep checking back. We hope to have some information for you soon.We are also planning to hold two auditions shows this summer. Each will feature 4 local bands and the folks who show up will get to help us decide on 2 of the 4 to play at the festival. We may ask for a small donation to hear the auditioning bands, to help defray the cost of the Festival so we can keep the event  FREE!

Living blues legend Pinetop Perkins(age 97) with amazing guitarist Bob Margolin

When I remarked to Pinetop that I thought it was great that he was still playing the piano, he said, “I’m going to play until I can’t play no more.”

More pics to be added later. Come back and visit us soon.
